Investing in Yourself and Your Business
When you’re running your own business, it’s important to make wise investments that will help grow your business in the future. Many new entrepreneurs make the mistake of spending money on things that they don’t necessarily need and when you are new, it’s hard to know what these things are. I started my first business in 2014 and had to learn some things the hard way! Below are my recommendations of 5 things that are wise business investments.
1. Website
Your website is the face and online storefront of your business and is probably one of the first places that your ideal client will look when they hear about your business. Think about yourself as a consumer. When you hear about a new service or product that you’re interested in, do you try to go to the website? Would you buy from a business that doesn’t have a website? As a new business owner, I do think that this is a wise investment to make and you do not have to spend a ton of money to create a simple yet beautiful website. You can create your own website by using Wix or possibly outsource this to a professional so that they can create a professional website for you.
2. Business Coach
Hiring a Business Coach is honestly one of the best investments that I’ve ever made! Up until this point, I have personally worked with three different high-end coaches that all helped me tremendously grow my businesses to the next level. This can be a scary decision to make but would you rather spend years on end trying to figure things out on your own? Or would you rather invest in a coach that can help guide you through the path that’s best for your business while also helping to push you out of your comfort zone? Before launching my first business in 2014, I actually hired a Business Coach for 6 months because I had zero business experience. I wanted to ensure that everything was set up properly and professionally right from the get-go. It was a large investment that I had to make, and I knew that going in. I was able to learn a lot of information in a short period of time and this was one of the main reasons that my business took off so quickly. Each time I invested in a Business Coach, I earned back my investment within months of working with the coach! I completed trusted myself to do the work and I made the commitment to take massive action. If you’re thinking about working with a Business Coach, then I encourage you to apply here!
3. Taking Care of Yourself
One of the best investments you can make as a new business owner is to regularly take care of yourself. You do not have to work 24/7 to run a successful business and a common myth that new entrepreneurs have is that more is better. Not true! Make it a priority to eat healthily and workout regularly. When you take care of yourself, you feel better and therefore are way more productive. The whole point of working for yourself is to be able to have a little more freedom with your schedule, right? Don’t get me wrong – there are many times that you will have to put in some extra hours, but you cannot sustain burning the candle at both ends all of the time. Make sense?
4. Hiring a Virtual Assistant
Hiring a virtual assistant has been a huge game-changer for me in my businesses! This is not something that you have to do right when you launch your business but it’s a great investment after you consistently have some regular income coming in. I do think it’s important for new business owners to get their feet wet with various aspects of your business so that you know how things operate behind the scenes. Virtual assistants can do tasks for you so that you can work ON your business and not IN your business. Think about how great it would be to have someone who handles and creates your social media, schedules appointments, takes care of email marketing, and does all of the busy work for you? It’s so great!
5. Email Marketing
One great way to start building relationships with your clients is by offering some type of free resource or lead magnet. I work on this all of the time with my coaching clients and absolutely love it! In exchange for the free resource or lead magnet, you can start collecting email addresses. I have found email marketing to be crucial in building both of my businesses. There are plenty of email marketing services out there that are relatively cheap, and I don’t suggest paying tons of money for this, to begin with. You want to be able to connect with your audience on a weekly basis to give them more valuable information, tell them about your services and products, let them know about upcoming events, and send them along discounts. I have created a mini-course called Create Your Irresistible Freebie Mini-Course and this has helped many of my clients create an amazing free resource to benefit their audience and to also build their email lists.
I hope you found these 5 recommendations helpful! I truly want you to make wise business investments and not waste money when you don’t need to.
Sending you all light and love today! :)
